We've got some stuff happening this week and over the long-weekend:

    1) Season Kick-Off is taking place Sunday, May 20 6:00 PM @ DMBC. It's the official kick off for the softball season at DMBC.  There'll be dinner, mixers, chance to mingle and chill, and some presentations.  Please RSVP by Wednesday to let us know if you can make it.

    2) Uniforms Eric has heard from some of you.  If not, please email Eric with 3 numbers (in order of preference) for your jersey.  Ian's got a list of existing jersey numbers, so I'll compare the two and try my best to accommodate. If I've missed anyone who needs a new jersey for this year, please let me know by.  Please let us know by this Wednesday (while you rsvp for the Season Kick Off *nudge nudge*).

    3) Weekday practice weekly on Wednesdays 6:00 PM @ Bestview Park. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this week.  I've spoke with a few of you about not being able to be at practice and/or being late to it.  I know everyone's got numerous other things to attend to and I completely respect that. If you can't make it, or you have to be late for the practice, that's fine.  We'll start and you can just link up with us when you get there. Pls rsvp though the slowpitch website (check your emails, or let us know if you have not gotten any emails).

Side note, heads up for potentially (and hopefully) a change in our schedule re: the june 16 double header (right, girls?).  We're going to try to reschedule those games.

  • Reminder: First practice is rained out!

by admin, posted on May 9, 2012 at 06:40 PM

Soul will be having practice tomorrow evening 6:00 PM @ Steelesview Public School. Quite a number of people have said they're coming, so let's look forward to a great practice and a great season starting tomorrow! See all of you then!

Unfortunately due to the unpredictable showers, practice is rained out tonight. We will aim to have our first practice on Sunday, May 13 2:00pm @ Pinto Park.

  • Open practice hosted by The Way

by admin, posted on May 6, 2012 at 02:25 PM

Our fellow DMBC teammates on The Way are hosting their first practice today, Sunday, May 6 2:00 PM @ Pinto Park. They'll be running a lot activities and drills and welcome anyone from Soul or the DMBC family looking for some punishment are invited to join Mike Seto and company!

  • First practice Wednesday May 9 @ 6 pm

by admin, posted on May 3, 2012 at 09:35 PM

Thanks to everyone who got back to me about what day would be good to hold our weekday practices. This year, our weekday practices will be *drumroll...* Wednesday evenings!!! I know this might not work great for everyone but in this situation, democratic majority rules. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing you all either at practices and/or games.

First practice: Wednesday, May 9, 6:00 PM @ Steelesview Public School

The church is going to host a small get-together to kick off the 2012 season. It's going to be on Sunday, May 20. More details to come. It'll be around dinner time. Come out and get some good food, a chance to meet everyone (ie. our team, members of The Way, and some of our great fans-and-friends) and a chance to see in more detail what this season will be like. It'd be great if you all could make it.

  • Informal Soul bat-around @ Hobart

by admin, posted on April 29, 2012 at 02:36 PM

The weather's looking good so if any of you are free, let's go out and try to have our rust-shake-off-bat around on Sunday, April 29 at 3:00pm.  There's a DMBC membership meeting, so we won't be able to get started until 3 pm.  Let's meet at Hobart Park. We'll move if we have to but let's go from there.   Again, it's going to be really informal so if you can't make it, no worries.

  • It's registration time!

by admin, posted on April 8, 2012 at 09:44 PM

    Hi everyone!

It's that time of year again. The sun’s setting later, the air’s getting warmer, and the grass is starting to get that nice shade of green again.  And with that, it’s time to grab our gloves and start hitting the diamonds. Softball is back and the two DMBC teams are taking registrations.
The official form is on the CCSA website http://ccsasoftball.net/page/downloads.

To register, you will need to print out the form and fill it in, along with an actual signature at the bottom (apparently it's a stickler point).  Completed forms and registration fee ($40 plus $20 for new uniform, if necessary**) can be submitted to either myself (Eric Tang) or Tim Moon if you’re interested in playing for SOUL, or to Mike Seto if you’re looking to be on The Way. Cheques can be made to Don Mills Baptist Church.

Registration forms can be handed to us on Sunday mornings at Don Mills Baptist Church or you can drop them off at Eric's house

We're aiming to have a team roster of 25 players, and we have some room in term of flex with that number. I'm more than happy to share with you the discussion and thought that has gone into structuring the team for this year, but I won't go into it here. If we do get to a point where we have to limit our playing roster, the order in which we receive your registration form will be considered, amongst other factors. If we should have limit the playing roster, we're also up for having people who want to work with us in practice, come out to team events, etc.

Deadline for submitting registration forms will be Sunday April 22.

Official practices will start in the beginning of May. For April, if you're free, we may start loosening arms and taking cuts in really informal and relaxed practices on the weekends so keep your ears to the ground for date and times. Perhaps on afternoon of the 15th.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask myself or Tim and we'll be happy to field them.

  • Not quite final update

Well team, our season is officially over, having finished in 7th place, a few points out of a playoff spot. Regardless of the outcome, take heart from our errors, rest up and be ready for next season!

Off the field, Soul's upcoming team dinner is this Sunday, August 21. Remember to send a text to Esther so she can order enough food!

  • Is this the final update??
